Essential List for Early Fall

cocoon sweater~express
skirt~thrifted
bodysuit~dancers warehouse
shoes~Anthropologie
Now that I am getting into the early fall swing, I am making the essential fall list in my mind.

  • Fishnets
  • Bodysuits
  • Clogs
  • Boleros
  • Leggings
  • Tunics

I think I have made note recently regarding all of the above items except for the bodysuits.  Bodysuits, do you remember them?  A good and useful item to resurrect from the past.  I love this piece for layering; it's thin and stays put.  A bit hard to find lately--I have to search, but I tend to find them at dance stores.    It is best under skirts; no visible lines which may show under pants.

So, do you still wear bodysuits or have you passed them over along with bell-bottoms?

  2. Such a great look on you! I am loving the cut of your skirt and what a fun, colorful shrug sweater...perfect for a pop of color and the cooler fall temperatures!

Also, I agree with you on bodysuits working best under skirts! I have one with embellished straps that I love for a lean, fitted, together line and look paired with the perfect skirt...like how you wore yours!

  3. My daughter was a dancer, so for years I frequented dance stores and had lots of leotards and unitards, some of which remain in my closet. You look great in this look and I appreciate the beautiful mix of colors.

Win a FAB frock from Shabby Apple!!

  5. I haven't worn a bodysuit since oh...1996? I think that's the last time they were "in". I liked how they stayed nice and sleek, but the pantylines (not to mention the pain it was to go to the bathroom!) were awful.

  6. Nice looking outfit!

I can imagine that a bodysuit would have some powers similar to light-weight shapewear if you're looking for a smooth waist/hip line.

  7. Great list for Fall! I haven't seeing any bodysuits lately but you should check Forever 21 they have a great section with 70's and 80's trend. I know because my girls drag me to Forever 21 every change they get.

  8. Love your color combos. I think bodysuits are great if you are super skinny, but those of us with a little something extra wouldn't look so great as most are made with stretchy material and would show every roll.

I did wear them, and loved them, in my younger years.

  9. You look fabulous, I love your bright sweater! I am not a fan of bodysuits now, they bug me : > but I wore the heck out of them when I was younger - great for staying tucked in.

Thanks for participating in Visible Monday!

  10. The body suit looks great on you but I don't think I would like the look on me. I really love both the color and styling of your sweater. Gorgeous.

  11. I have never been able to wear bodysuits as I have a really long torso and they always felt like I was wearing a wedgie.
You look very lovely in your outfit. Love the colors.

  12. I really like the blue and purple together, they are a great combination. I can't remember the last time I wore a bodysuit. I like the idea of all that smoothness, no constantly tucking a shirt in, but I think they would eventually drive me crazy because I have to go to the bathroom too often (too much water, too much coffee, oh and childbirth probably didn't help either, ha ha!).XO, Jill

  14. I love the pink cardi, the color looks great on you! And lovely accessories, I like how you layered them. It's a great idea to wear a body suit with a flared skirt, it accentuates the body shape.

Thanks for stopping by my blog by the way! HAve a great week!

  16. OH gosh, I still wear bell bottoms but no bodysuits! They were so in during the late 80's early 90's, remember? I had a hard time finding them long enough, so it's a trend I'm happy to see gone. But now that high-waisted skirts and pants are coming back they'll probably be back "in" again soon. You're a trendsetter!

  17. I just had to laugh because I don't think I've ever seen fishnets at the top of an "essentials" list. This is why I love your outfits! So much flair and creativity.

I did have a shapewear bodysuit for awhile. It worked well!
