How do you decide what to wear in the morning? Do you plan it the night before?
I usually stand at the doorway in my closet and see if a vision comes to me. If I am lucky, I may have gotten a vision the night before. If that doesn't happen, its almost like using a divining rod--I touch my clothes and see if I get the vibe.
This outfit came to me in a vision the night before so it was easy for me to get up and put it on. Thank God, because I'm having a hard time getting out of the house and going to work--again. Yup, sabbatical is over.
Anyway, details. The dress/tunic is a score from one of my fave second hand stores--its silk, love the maremeko-ish print, and perfect length for a tunic. The bolero is from years ago; the leggings from last year.
The goofy pose? I look like a surprised yogi ballerina. Too early in the morn for me!
Did you get a vision?
I ADORE this dress! I actually go to bed thinking about what I'm going to wear the next day.....I find myself putting together outfits in my head waaaaaay to much, but I do enjoy it! Like a painter, always thinking about things to paint. Cute earrings too! ~Serene
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish I could get a vision! I wonder if that's why your outfits always look so happy & creative? Me, I stand in the closet doorway, staring, for a long time. Very often, my outfit starts with appropriate footwear for the weather, or how I want to "feel" that day (polished? creative? a teeny bit sexy? authoritative? Often I go for comfy & warm!)
ReplyDeleteSerene~when I was putting on this dress, I knew you would love it! I do too. The earrings are nuts from mexico and wore them ALLLL summer~Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnne~I have to start with footwear sometimes too--living here in NE! You have the first part of the creation going...wondering how you want to feel--just go for something other than comfy and warm next time--altho that IS hard to pass up!
I like what you said about how you choose your clothing. I sometimes dream them up before they go to bed. In my head I try to think about the proportion of a skirt with a certain shirt... that gets a little tricky. Mostly, I go to the closet door and look inside and wait to be hit by inspiration lightning. If I get really stuck, I pick one item ( a shirt, a skirt) that I commit to wearing, and then I just make something up around that piece.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love that tunic -- what a gorgeous print and such an inspiring colour combo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tunic and nicely paired with the bolero. I have to confess that since I've started my blog, my outfits are planned out a month in advance, with slight daily adjustments for weather conditions.
ReplyDeleteI used to do the vision and vibe thing.
Are you pleased about going back to work?
