I've been thinking that my blog has been a little, shall we say,
shallow lately.
So I embarked upon a project to add a little depth.
FAIL.
I had attempted to make a creative video on
"why I started blogging".
This failed because my video editing skills are at novice level and I visualize at a master level.
Non-the-less, I did prepare a fun video--not the in-depth-up-close-and-personal I had hoped for.
For those of you not into the video thing, here is an OOTD for you~
skirt~ Banana Republic |
And speaking of my closet, I have noticed items that I bought new are becoming vintage! How scary is that? This skirt is probably only 10 years old. It's great quality, classic tweed and look--midis are back in style! Do you have items in your closet that you bought NEW 25 years ago?
Linking up with Patti's Visible Monday; Hello All!
xoxo
your closet is so neat and organized! love it - and the video is so much fun. Serious will be for another day : > Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday, xox.
ReplyDeleteI love the video! You really captured the old-timey feel, but you should have had that midi skirt on!
ReplyDeleteIn the last 25 years I moved across the ocean and back, and before that I was staying in temporary places for awhile, so I don't have ANYTHING I bought 25 years ago! Sad, really.
Val, yes, I am lucky in some respects I have been on one side of the ocean--so I didnt have to make some SERIOUS decisions!
DeleteOh and the skirt that I have on in the video is also probably 20 years old! It used to be long and really fugly, but I took up the hem and whala!
DeleteI love your picture, Paula...you look stunning! This is such a chic look ...gorgeous! You are doing really great with the videos, but I am sure they take a lot of time. Stay warm this week and keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteYes, the videos are a huge learning curve. Whenever I get frustrated with them, I just go to Magisto and let them do it!
DeleteI don't have many items I bought 25 years ago but I do have a couple that I cherish. It is very scary when we and our clothes become vintage : )
ReplyDeleteI love the long tweed skirt. Reminds me of the one I got thrifting a while back that is a Ralph Lauren tweed maxi skirt.
bisous
Suzanne
Did you put that on your blog? I seem to remember that! And yes, we are becoming vintage too!
DeleteI like the proportions of this outfit...the shorter jacket with the longer skirt. It works nicely!
ReplyDeleteYes, une femme, I needed to change this up a little--I'm glad you like it! :~D
DeleteYour video is fantastic! Seriously! I enjoyed it so much! I will have to look into Magisto!
ReplyDeleteSue--i really love Magisto! I have a lot of other apps, but they take too much time!
DeleteWho could not love your video's, especially with your wonderful choice of music. They always make me smile. I think you're an awfully smart woman for keeping a hold of that skirt. What a great way of bringing new life to it. I was trying to purge my closets lately (which I have such a hard time doing), I know they say if you haven't worn it for 3 years to give it away, but dang, that's so hard to do sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many rules about purging; i dont go by the "last time worn"; i tend to go by quality and if I still love it. A funky fit or feel is a no-go too!
DeleteVery cute closet video, Paula...and I love the midi skirt.
ReplyDeleteLoved your video! That music reflects how I often feel when I peek into my closet too, a bit of Charlie Chaplin, a bit of Gloria Swanson, a bit of wild west... Thanks for that. Oh, yes, some things in my closet have become vintage behind my back. The cheek. I like the short jacket with the longer skirt, clearly a keeper. I wish people could come back into high style as easily as clothing.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Glora Swanson; i watched "Sunset Blvd" last nite...love the line--"its the pictures that got small"...
DeleteHello Paula!
ReplyDeleteHow are you? I will reply to your e-mail soon!
Welcome to shallow land, hahaha! not inspired at all and very shallow too, must the friggin weather!
I love your combo polka dots and long classic skirt, so unusual and so much fun!
I didn't notice how nice your hair was!
Take care and will write soon!

I adore your little video, as old movies are a favorite around here! Your closet looks a lot like mine...full of great pieces, but in my case, too many! I don't have any 25 year old pieces...my style has changed a lot since I've retired and began to express myself more freely. Love your polka dot vest...what a fun surprise!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun closet tour dear Paula! You look great! I love the maxi skirt with a fun dotted waistcoat :) hugs, Beata xxx
ReplyDeleteYou shallow? Never! Creative? Yes! I think your video skills are rather advanced. And the midi? I love it. I have clothes that have been in my closet since the 70's, so everything seems to cycle back through. With a twist!
ReplyDeleteHa! Hate to tell you, Paula ... the older you get the more vintage your wardrobe will become! But this is a GOOD thing. You're so adorable. Still thinking about your mini-skirts and here you are in midi. Of course! Very country-house chic ... as in "don't forget to tell Jeeves there have been five more added to the hunting party, so there will be an odd number at dinner. Tsk."
ReplyDeleteI just opened an Etsy shop (finally!) and anything older than 20 years (1994) is considered "vintage". That's just crazy! But convenient, because I now can call lots of items vintage and sell them. "Vintage authentic artist's pants with paint splatters" Hahahaha. SOMEONE will want them!
ReplyDeleteYour video was very cute, though it made me a little seasick. The music and old-timey effects went well together.
Thanks for linking up with 52 Pick-me-up!
Does this length still counts for a midi skirt? I think I've seen a similar one between maxi skirts wholesale. However, you know you look much better with something like that mini skirts wholesale - I have seen them in your newer posts! It's great that in these couple of years you managed to find your style and look much younger now!
