In Denial of Winter

Even though it's not quite winter yet, we've had some pretty cold mornings here in NE. One morning it was 19!  That put me in denial mode and the way that translates into my clothing is by mixing my summer clothes with my winter.

Summer knit dress with leather jacket
This mix of summer/winter helps with keeping the layers thinner.

On to the clothes in the video!
It's hard to tell, but the red and blue pleather jackets are the same.  I bought one and liked it so much, I went back and bought the other!
I think these summer dresses work well with the pleather jackets because they are substantial fabrics; one is linen and the other is a knit.
Oh, and did you notice my scarf?  I have tied it in the back with an elastic; I will soon cut it smaller, and sew it as an infinity scarf.  Want to know why?  Because the fear of bulk is burned into my memory because of winter bulk like this:

Oh, and I am linking up with Seeker, over at Searching the Inner Me for

  1. I love the blue of the sky and the blue of your tights! I wanted to tell you that you were cracking me up a few weeks ago when I posted about Donna Tartt and you said you made your book club read 'Moll Flanders' by Defoe. Ha, did they give you the boot? I hated that book so much, I had to read all of those novels in college since I was a lit major-English lit before the 18th century. I am not a fan of any of that early novel writing! I was so much happier with Chaucer and Shakespeare, which thankfully I had to read a lot of. I hope all is well with you. Stay warm and Happy Thanksgiving! Oh, are ya joining Adrienne and me for "How I Wear My: Red"? We are accepting pictures until Dec. 3. XO, Jill

  2. OMG we could have serious conversations about Moll, Tartt, etc!
I forgot about how I wear my red; I'll have to get some in before the 3rd. Thanks for the reminder! xoxo

  3. Heh! I remember being bundled up in jackets so bulky I couldn't bend my arms. HATED that!! I love how you've incorporated those brights into cooler weather outfits.

  4. That picture reminds me so much of the "snowsuits" I got bundled into as a child! They were really a bear when I had to go to the bathroom : > Love how you're using your clothes year-round, and adding those great jackets.

  5. The jackets and dresses look to be a perfect transition into winter. Oh, it was hard to type that word. It is fall for almost another month yet, even tho we've had a bit of snow and my grandson put the snowman he made outside b/c 'it is winter'. I must be lazy....I pin some of my scarves into infinity scarves. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU!!!

  6. Ha ha! I don't think that baby can move. Believe me as a kid in Canada I knew what it was to be bundled up so much that you can barely move.

It's so nice to see brights in winter.

    bisous

  7. Those are great jackets, Paula...and they do work so well with the dresses. Well, I know it's going to be cold for many months now, so my prayer is sunshine. If the sun is shining I can deal. haha

  9. I really like the style of your dress, Paula. Love the pockets and it looks great with a jacket. We even have wintery weather this week in South Texas, so I can imagine that you are pretty cold. Stay warm and enjoy your Thanksgiving!!

  14. You look very pretty! I don't think I could survive in 19 degrees, here in Los Angeles it was 40 degrees last night and I had my heater on full blast~!
