There are tons of these patterns on the web. These are mine. |
I remember the BIG Betsy back in the 70's (BIG as in popular). Some of the things that defined her style—fun, colorful, prints, neon, girly, have been present throughout her illustrious career. And it seems she is trying to make a comeback—with the financial help of Steve Madden. Hence the big push lately; I'm seeing A LOT of Betsy Johnson stuff out there. Web site too.
Fakey cartwheel I would kill myself if I really tried. |
What makes me want to root for Betsy and her comeback, is I secretly want a world of woman designing womans' clothes. Not that guys aren't talented or anything; it's just that its sort of a throw-back to it's a "man's world" and all that rot. I mean, how many women are designing men's clothes????? Let's even up the playing field here people!
That's why I say, Go Betsy! What say you?
I've seen a lot of her around lately. She's cute, but too frilly for me.
ReplyDeleteRose, I guess the marketing venture is working!
DeleteI love Betsy! I have one cute little party dress by her. That '78 striped leotard is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteBecky :)
Becky~I love her too--love her vintage stuff.
DeleteI enjoy some of her quirky jewelry, and the clothes are fun but not my style personally. I think she is quite talented and has a unique vision.
ReplyDeleteYou're right--Her jewelry is so fun! And lots of her dresses now have a prom quality--and I am way past the prom stage. Glad she is still making a go of it though.
DeleteShe is an inspiration for our age group to persevere through trials....I have bought many of her things for my daughter! I watched the show. I am curious to see if her daughter's venture succeeds. Paula, I hope you can hop over and click on the link to my interview...toward the end of the interview I mentioned you and your mini skirts!!
ReplyDeletePam--that's why I give her so much credit! Love the fact that she has persevered!
DeleteThanks for the shout out Pam--I must check it out!
Love Betsey, wore lots of her stretchy dresses in the 80's and have a few of her skirts in the 90's.
ReplyDeleteShe has lots of stuff out in JCPenny now
ReplyDeleteI just picked up one of her scarves, so fun
Brett
I knew she was in trouvle but i didn't know Steve M was involved in the comeback
ReplyDeleteHoping she does well, i love what she does
True what you say , i don't know any womwn designer who designs men's clothes
You're right, women don't design men's clothes! I know I've had some luck with the Betsey Johnson things I've had to sell on eBay. I'm rooting for her.
ReplyDeleteLove Betsey--i hope she becomes successful AGAIN!!
