Fur and Cotton

This week it's all about cotton and fur.  Well, fake fur that is.  I'm still in denial of winter, so I am mixing winter fabrics with summer.

Even fake fur comes in handy in NE where there are more than 100 days below freezing.  Although I have gone to fake now, I must confess I have some real furs still hanging around.  It has become politically incorrect to wear real fur in Boston--and I can feel the tension when I wear one.  (disclaimer:all of my real furs are over 25 years old--could that be a disclaimer?)

For those of you who would like to see more of my sketches, here is the one from this week.

I have lots of fake fur stuff; fur clogs, fur scarfs, fur hats, fur vests, fur coats, fur headbands, fur gloves.  My girlfriend calls my fur outfit crazy-ass; but seriously, not as crazy as this fur skirt.

Jacket and Cape Weather

When I think of all the time I actually SPEND in a jacket or a coat, it makes more sense to take pictures in my OUTERWEAR, rather than my INNER WEAR.  That's why this week, I have my fall jackets and a cape in my video.  Besides, it's getting cold.

IN the video, there are 3 jackets I wore this week.

1. The leopard jacket was purchased ON SALE for $30 at Forever 21. LOVE this coat, it's a lightweight fake fur that's very comfortable. I do have to be careful shopping at XXI --one misstep and I'm 16 again (in my mind). This coat was safe from a style standpoint. It is a tad tight in the arms, a common fit problem if I shop the teenage stores.

2. This cape has become a fall outerwear staple for me, surprisingly! I bought this at Macy's close to 10 years ago. I bought it for fall football games, and has turned out to be a valuable transitional jacket. I never thought I'd wear it as much as I do. The only drawback is it is cumbersome to wear driving.
The cape has been a huge trend for awhile; has anyone taken the plunge?

3. And of course, who could go without a jean jacket? Is there anyone out there that DOESN'T have/use one?

THIS WEEK'S INSPIRATION; CLOUDS
In the spring and fall in new England, we have beautiful clouds. Every day I try to remember to just

Play

I was thinking this week how easy it is to forget how to play.  I think it creeps up on you as you age. Sometimes it takes a puppy or a grandchild to remind you how important it is to do something as frivolous as play. (PS: I don't have a grandchild but I DO have a puppy)

In addition to Chanel-the puppy, I play everyday with my clothes; as silly as that sounds. It's like the little-girl-dress-up-thing.

SO  I'm asking my friends over at Visible Monday, How do you PLAY?
