Stacey and Clinton ARE Always Right!

This was the dress that I bought on sale for $29.99, that I almost sacrificed my I phone upgrade for.  (see my post on my moratorium for July buying!)

I REALLY like the way I feel in this dress, but in looking over the pictures, there is something not quite right.

It just always seems to look a little poopy.  Like old farty.  Sort-a frumpy.

I really couldn't put my finger on what the problem was.  Until, that is, I watched this video from Stacey and Clinton.

OOPS!  Oh yeah, I forgot about rule number 8!  I bought this dress, on sale, but yes, it is 2 sizes bigger than what I usually wear.  Do you think that is why it just doesn't look quite right?????

  1. I really enjoyed that video! Clinton always makes me laugh. I do like this dress, and you look not-poopy-at-all, in fact quite fetching. xoxo

    1. Isnt that a great video? And as much as I am against "rules", one must have fundamentals to break the rules, no?

  2. I don't think it looks as bad as you think, and I especially like it with that bright yellow sweater! If you think it's too frumpy, maybe you need to just funk it up with a wide belt, different colored shoes, tights. Go crazy!

  3. Poopy? Old farty? I was swooning with joy at your amazing figure and gorgeous legs! I love that sexy lace number you wore underneath it and how good you look in yellow.
We do impose our own rules and it's liberating to break them. I've tried knee length a couple of times recently I feel very naughty! xxx

  4. I love the dress with the yellow sweater. I would add a little thin belt to really accentuate your tiny waist.

    You look lovely.

  5. I really don't think it looks bad, more of a casual look. The colors (esp. with the yellow cardi) are really good on you.

  6. You look like a million dollars in that 30 dollar dress. Suzanne has a great idea about a thin belt. I like the lace instead of the yellow cardi. But what do I know, I'm just a guy. :)

  8. What are you talking about, you don't look frumpy - and you shouldn't listen to Clinton and Stacey...i don't anymore, been years now...hahaha!

  10. Is it possible to make an alteration? I like the colors of the dress and it looks amazing with your tan.

  11. I think you look fab in this dress! Surely it can be altered so the fit is more your size (though the size problem isn't so obvious from these photos) - love the touch of having off the shoulder lace sleeves under the dress (is that part of the dress?)

  12. I actually think you look great in this dress.

  13. you don't look frumpy...you would have to work hard to look frumpy, Paula. I do think a tighter fit might take care of what you don't like about it...but it is cute, fun, creative and all of those things say PAULA to me!

  14. Frumpy is never the word I would use to describe you. Love the color and the pieces that you put together with the dress in your photos. However, if you don't feel comfortable, perhaps it can be altered so that you adore it. But you look fabulous on this side of the screen!

  15. I think it looks great on you. It does not need the shirt underneath. It looks good with the yellow sweater. It's very pretty.

  16. I think the dress is pretty but when you put the cardigan on it brings your waist in and gives you more detailed definition. That lace on the dress is unnecessary. You look very youthful.

  17. Visiting your blog for the first time....I like the dress with the yellow cardigan. And I enjoyed seeing your style in your other posts, too. I'm turning 55 soon and my general level of style is "t-shirt and jeans." I think I want to kick it up a notch. Thanks for the inspiration!
