One hears so many rules on dressing for women over 50. I used to think maybe some of the rules may be good for guidelines.
I'm not so sure anymore.
Now, after years of blogging, I'm more apt to say, WEAR WHAT YOU LIKE!
If you like what you wear, you exude confidence and great energy. I always feel great in my mini-skirts, and I don't care WHAT people say.

I'll wear them till I'm 100!
I'm sure my friends over at Visible Monday will agree!
Rules are meant to be broken and who gets to set them for us anyway... You look fabulous in your mini!
ReplyDeleteI wear what makes me feel comfortable and confident. However, I have noticed that some of the things that make me feel comfortable actually follow these so-called rules, lol.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's ok too, Marla! I find the same thing too a lot of times so I am betwix and between chucking all the rules all the time!
DeleteAgree, agree, agree! I've never been one to follow rules especially written ones. As for the mini skirt, I do believe you can and will be wearing one even at 100. You've got some wonderful legs on you.
ReplyDeleteIf I looked like you do in mini-skirts, I would wear them until I was 100!! There have been some rules that have really helped me adapt a style...but I would not say that those rules are good for everyone. Some of the rules that exist to slim down a larger figure are very helpful. I don't really think there are many hard and fast rules that exist anymore like they did during our mothers'times. You go girl...wear those minis!
ReplyDeletePam, I hear where you are coming from. There are sometimes that the "rules" help set us on a better path--then sometimes they can work against us. It's like learning a skill sort of; when you know how to use the tools, the result can be better.
DeleteKeep rocking those mini's till 100 and beyond, you look like a million bucks! You have a great sense of style, my friend. Thanks for sharing it with Visible Monday. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit, Paula....and the shoes too.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing in a little leg baring skirt and I can see why you'd want to wear them forever. It is my belief that fashion rules can be helpful, but not necessarily a requirement for happy, individual dressing. I'm a "to each their own" type of person I think. Everybody has their own taste, lifestyle, and fashion goals.
Exactly, Lisa!
DeleteYou know what works for you and you have fantastic legs, so definitely keep wearing those mini-skirts!
ReplyDeleteFor years I thought I had to cut my hair after I hit a certain age, but I finally figured out it just looks better when it's longer. Forget the rules!
So true, some people just look better with longer hair! Me? Shorter hair is the way to go.
DeleteYou always look great! Minis look good on you, and you know that, so you should definitely wear them. You have a great figure. And I love the pattern mix, too!

ReplyDeleteIf I had legs like yours I'd wear miniskirts, too! What a beautiful top as well. You make "wear what you like" llook flawless :-)
Alicia
I do agree of course. I saw an upscale chain shop window and it said "Don't blend in," and what did the window feature? All styles of camo wear and neutrals. !! I love your outfit and your attitude. Love you in that mini!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteYes i agree ! wear what you like!
ReplyDeleteMy mom is 72 and still wears her minis and i think she looks great!
I think you look great in minis
Great pattern mixing btw
Oh! when you come to Montreal, call me or e-mail me!
I would love to meet you!
Ariane
That is so great Ariane! Maybe you can get a shot of your mom in her mini...
DeleteAmen!! I love your outfit--the top is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. Wear what you like as long as you like. You look amazing in this. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love that top. Great choice.
bisous

This ootd has an eclectic vibe that I dig!
ReplyDeleteOf course, wear them forever ... as long as you're comfortable. You have great legs and great taste (very fetching combo when you balance a bare leg with a more.) Naturally you like them because they look good and flatter. I'm great with the "wear what you like" philosophy as long it's really what a woman likes and doesn't just feel pressured to wear. Like you say above, it's knowing how (and why!) to "use the tools."
ReplyDeleteRight, Jan. on all counts. It's always a little more complicated, no?
DeleteThank you for your fun visit and suggestions. I know I love to just dream up outfits. That or dreaming up how to furnish my home, but of late my home is fine and outfit planning is much more FUN!!!
ReplyDeleteCute top!
ReplyDeleteI bought some new bike shorts (not the ones with a padded seat) to wear under some of my summer dresses that are that length.
I felt like I might be showing the world more old-lady thigh than I cared to when I bend over. The world can look at black bike-short instead -- and no, I didn't buy spandx bike shorts, they just cotton knit that's not like a girdle.
It's liberating, kind of like when you'd wear shorts under your skirt in grade school so you could turn on the bars at recess.
I totally agree! You always look great in your minis, and wearing them until you're 100 sounds like a a goal to go for. Love you top too!
ReplyDeleteHear! Hear! You have fantastic legs that would be criminal to hide away!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are gorgeous! I love the print on that skirt.
